Joint hypermobility can be painless, but in EDS it may be associated with recurrent joint instability, subluxations, dislocations and chronic pain. Management is usually tailored to the person and may include education, activity modification, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, braces or splints, and mobility aids where appropriate. Repeated or severe injuries need clinical assessment. The goal is not to make every joint rigid; it is to improve function and reduce avoidable injury while respecting the person's limits.
